Overview & Objectives

Transanal surgery has gained popularity during the latter part of the last decade for early rectal cancer, local excision after neoadjuvant treatment, and polyps and rectal GISTs. Also, for treating rectal anastomosis complications and rectovaginal fistulas TEO is helpful. This course is designed to provide advanced colorectal surgical trainees and consultants who want to establish a transanal practice with hands-on training. It addresses a gap in conventional surgical training in an emerging branch of colorectal practice.

  • Characteristics and limitations of TEO platforms
  • Pre-operative assessment and patient selection
  • The set-up of the TEO platform in the operation room
  • The fundamental surgical techniques, ergonomics, and TEO suturing
